Union County Local Beef Packaged - Visit NC Farms It’s grilling season! With plenty of opportunities to fire up the grill, summer is a great time to spend outdoors with friends and family. And nothing beats the taste of a freshly grilled burger. There are many benefits to buying food locally, and Union County has quite the selection. When you purchase local meats, you are able to support the entire local food system. You receive a tasty, fresh product, and have the opportunity to talk with the farmer and learn more about how the meat was raised. These purchases support the farmer and their family as well as the local economy as a whole by keeping those dollars in the community.

Another benefit of supporting local farms is the ability to find products you may not be able to find in a grocery store, such as certain heritage breeds or possibly a specific cut of meat. You also can purchase in bulk, allowing you to fill your freezer with a variety of meat cuts.

Union County is now offering new ways to find local farmers. The Visit NC Farms App can be downloaded for free from your app store. There you can take a look at the map to find farms near you, or you can filter and search for a specific product.
